The Wusaki Project in a Few Words

La naissance des couteaux Wusaki

The Wusaki story begins in 2017, with the slightly crazy project of two partners and friends who decided to create their own kitchen knives. How does an idea like that come about? It’s simple: after nearly 10 years in the industry, sourcing and reselling some of the best knife brands from all over the world, they simply asked themselves: “why not us?”.

William and Florent obviously know the trade well. After all those years, they know what works best: the materials that go into the design, the manufacturing processes, the care put into the finishes…Every detail was scrutinized by the two creators, who became experts through constantly testing blades, the quality of the grip, and the cutting performance of the knives they offered for sale.

As the saying goes: “it’s by forging that one becomes a blacksmith”, and that’s exactly what William and Florent did. They tested a multitude of kitchen knives, approving some and rejecting others. They talked with professional chefs about their expectations, but also with passionate home cooks who could bring a different perspective to their idea. All of this allowed them to select the features that seemed essential to them, eventually leading to a prototype of the knife that would suit them best.

Un beau projet

That is where Wusaki knives come from, and in particular the brand’s first two signature ranges: the Damascus VG10 and Pakka X50 knives. If we had to sum up the two partners’ principles and values when it comes to making knives, we could mention:

-the desire to create knives suited to every everyday task, thanks to a wide range of models available (for cutting meat, fish, vegetables, bread and brioche…)

-the desire to offer models for every budget without compromising on quality

-the commitment to having the best performance through quality materials that are durable and well recognized in the trade

-the wish to offer models that are not only high-performing, but beautiful too! Damascus, olive wood, hammering…All these processes make your knives one of a kind!

-choosing a respectable manufacturer who knows what they’re doing: the partner chosen is a small facility located in Guangdong province in China, a region known for its expertise in the field. This manufacturer carries out meticulous work on a limited number of pieces, to guarantee maximum quality for every Wusaki knife

The Wusaki experience is therefore a shared commitment to creating knives that are useful, durable, functional, and beautiful. Since the beginning, several ranges have come to complete the original lineup. Indeed, over time, numerous handcrafted collections designed in Japan have emerged, including the prestigious Nogami BS2 and Nakata BS2 series, both originating from the city of Sanjō, located in the north of Niigata province, home to many traditional blacksmith workshops.
