This whetstone is truly functional and effective thanks to its 2 in 1 design. It can be used for both Japanese and Western types of kitchen knives. Let us add that it comes with a black silicone stand that serves to hold the stone and thus guarantee a safe and stable usage. The frequency in which you should use this whetstone depends on the conditions of your knives.
It is perfect for finishing the blade of standard knives with a hardness level of around 60 HRC. Given that its abrasive surface is composed of fine grains, it refines the outermost part of the blade's edge. This side could also serve as the starting point for ultra hard blades that will later require to be finished with ultra-fine grains such as the grit 8000.
For finishing and polishing the blade's edge, this is the ideal grit. Its ultra fine grains enable you to truly work on the outermost part of the edge and give it a razor sharp finish. We recommend you to use it with knives that reach a hardness level above of 60 HRC as the other knives with lower hardness cannot withstand such a fine sharpening.
A Wusaki whetstone needs to be soaked in water 15 minutes before usage. Next, you need to place the blade's edge against the stone's surface leaving a space equivalent to a coin in between the blade's body and the stone. Then, you start doing sway movements across the whetstone's surface applying just a light pressure. Don't forget that to get complete results, you need to do this on both sides of the blade. Dimensions : (L) 18 x (W) 6 x (H) 3cm.
