The Wusaki Fujiko VG10 chef knife is both beautiful and highly effective at the same time. Some of its several qualities are a great cutting performance, an ergonomic design, and a long lifespan. Its gorgeous look immediately catches your eyes' attention thanks to its originality, elegance, and excellent finishes.
Every Wusaki Fujiko knife has a blade with a VG10 steel core. This type of Japanese steel allows the blade to remain sharp 2 to 3 times longer than a standard European knife. This is possible thanks to its 1% of carbon content, which makes the blade harder than most blades of Western kitchen knives. Furthermore, its V-shaped edge was manually sharpened on a leather band, and that's why this knife can prove its quality since the very first cut!
The handle of this and all Fujiko knives is made of olive wood. This type of wood with light shades is characterised for its robustness and its pleasant smell. As it is a completely natural material, the veinings are unique on each single handle. In addition, the straight shape of the handle enables a comfortable grip, and its bolster with a smooth surface lets you hold the knife closer to the blade, which in turn lets you have better control over your food cuts.
Around the VG10 steel core, there are 67 layers of damascus steel that create unique patterns on the blade's surface.
Thanks to the beautiful contrast between the damascus blade and the wooden handle, the knife's look is absolutely stunning.
Finally, the Japanese kanji engraved on the steel bottom of the handle is the final touch of originality that makes this knife truly special.
